The maker of M&Ms and Mars Bars is in talks with large pharmaceutical companies to develop medications using cocoa flavonoids. Clinical trials have found that cocoa flavanols may help address diabetes, strokes, vascular disease, and dementia. Mars has already launched CocoaVia, a nutrition bar containing 80 calories and specially preserved flavanols.
