Dr. T, I have had seborrheic dermatitis in my scalp for 5 years. I have used expensive shampoos from dermatologists that have not worked. Also have used otc shampoos to no avail. I have been using apple cider vinegar as a rinse after using nizoral shampoo, and a neem oil shampoo, but I still have it. Could you offer any other suggestions? It is embedded in my scalp and is causing hair loss. I dont know what to do. Also I have had hair loss for 30 years. I have hypothyroidism and have been on synthroid for 25 years but have switched to armour thyroid because I read synthroid can cause hair loss. I also take thyrocare to support the thyroid. It is very devastating when a woman loses her hair. I have been taking botin also. Can you offer any other suggestions> Thank you so much for reading my questions. Many blessings.

Answer

In these settings, I consider a trial of the medication Diflucan 200 mg a day for 6-12 weeks in my patients.
